Patient Card Info
The West Virginia Office of Medical Cannabis (OMC) has opened up an online registration system to allow patients to apply for medical cannabis cards. To be eligible, patients must have one of the qualifying medical conditions for medical cannabis in West Virginia and be certified by a physician registered with the OMC.

Qualifying Medical Conditions
Cancer, HIV/AIDS, ALS, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord damage, epilepsy, neuropathies, Huntington’s disease, Crohn’s disease, post-traumatic stress disorder, intractable seizures, sickle cell anemia, terminal illness, severe chronic or intractable pain of neuropathic origin or severe chronic or intractable pain.
Physician certification
To certify patients, physicians must complete a four-hour course and register with the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, Bureau for Public Health, Office of Medical Cannabis. Physicians must also report to the bureau if a patient no longer needs access to medical cannabis or if the patient dies. The practitioner must certify the patient is “likely to receive therapeutic or palliative benefit from the use of medical cannabis”. Physicians may specify the form of cannabis their patients must use.
